Yooperlite

Yooperlite is Sodalite-syenite. That is to say, a foid-syenite where sodalite is the most abundant foid. Alkali feldspar and Sodalite are present in these seemingly normal, gray rocks that glow a vibrant orange under UV light. Hornblende and Biotite may also be major components, but aren’t always present and aren’t required for classification. The tradename Yooperlite was derived from “U.P.” for Upper Peninsula (Michigan), as this is where Yooperlite is found.

Yooperlite is believed to be able to help alleviate menopause symptoms, inflammation, fever, headaches, sinus infections, and muscular stress. It is also said to help soothe the throat, vocal chords, and larynx in the case of hoarseness/laryngitis. It is believed to prevent water retention and improve cellular hydration while helping to regulate blood pressure and heart rate.

Having a calming effect on the mind, it fosters relaxation. It is believed to promote emotional healing and improve mental clarity, improving focus. It is also said to enhance creativity, encouraging ‘outside of the box’ thinking, and stimulates self-acceptance and self-confidence.
