Malachite ( ˈma-lə-ˌkīt )-Cu₂(CO₃)(OH)₂

Malachite is a green (and very common) secondary copper mineral. This means that primary copper sulfide minerals weather and oxidize near the Earth’s surface. Thus, forming secondary copper minerals (like Malachite or Azurite). It is characterized by the multiple green colors that form non perfect patterns on the one stone. With a silky or earthy luster and has a hardness of 3.5-4, it is a member of the Rosasite group and it is in the Monoclinic crystal system.
