Diopside

Diopside (dī-ˈäp-ˌsīd ) – CaMgSi2O6

A monoclinic pyroxene belonging to the clinopyroxene subgroup (the monoclinic pyroxene group). It is a light to dark green, blue, brown, white, grey, or pale violet color, or can be colorless. The luster is Vitreous or Dull and it’s hardness is 5.5-6.5. Diopside is one of the most common members of the pyroxene group. Chrome diopside contains high levels of chromium which give it those pretty green (even emerald) shades.

Diopside is believed to be beneficial for heart and blood health, optimizing circulation and tissue oxygenation. It is believed to aid in recovery and regeneration after an injury or a surgery. It is helpful with the lungs, muscles, and kidneys.
